Details

INCE-IN-MAKERFIELD HOLT STREET SD 50 NE (east side) 5/86 Peel Hall and Peel Hall 8.8.66 Cottage - II House, now 2 houses. Probably C14 or C15. Brick with slate and stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays, end bays break forward under gables. Cruck frame construction. Varied casement windows. Entrance has architrave, frieze and cornice and 6-fielded-panelled door. Several brick stacks. Rear has projecting gabled bay to left, and later gabled projection. Interior probably has 5 cruck trusses, 2 are visible, with braced cambered collars; one has been cut through for 1st floor entrance; wind braces. Remains of wattle and daub walling. Ground floor has old door frames and 4-panel doors. Original plan believed to have been of 2- bay full-height hall and cross-passage with parlour, buttery and pantry.
