National School. 1845-49 by L.N. Cottingham, and completed by N.J. Cottingham. Probably extended later in C19. Knapped flint with limestone dressings, on gault brick plinth. Steeply pitched clay tile roof with bands of fishscale tiles. Stone coped gable ends with gableted kneelers and finials. Large axial flint stacks with diagonally-set brick shafts.
Plan: cruciform plan. Master's house in north range with hall and school rooms in cross-wings to south and pair of small lavatory wings on north end of master's house. The cross-wing may be a later C19 addition. Gothic style.
Exterior: one storey and attic and single storey cross-wing and south range to right. 3:2:2 windows. One-, two- and three-light ogee-headed windows with wrought-iron stanchions and bars; to left three gabled dormers with cusped bargeboards and wrought-iron finials. Gabled cross-wing to right of centre with elaborate large buttress between two depressed two-centre arch windows and with cusped ventilator in gable above and porch in angle to left with depressed two-centre arch doorway and studded door with wrought-iron hinges. Similar rear (east) elevation. South gable end has three-light window with reticulated tracery. At north end two small single storey lavatory wings with monopitch roofs. Four-centre arch doorways and two-light ogee-headed windows.
Interior: hall has eight-bay roof of seven-cant trusses with upper curved V-struts and blocked shoulder-headed fireplace.
Including: playground area wall to west, gault brick with panels of flint and saddle-back coping.
