Barn. Early-mid C19. For the Wentworth estate. Dressed sandstone, slate roof. 3 storeys, loses a storey to rear with rise in ground. 7 bays with lower 2-bay wings. Symmetrical elevations: window openings with projecting sills and lintels tooled as voussoirs have slatted-wood ventilators or sash windows. Uphill side: two, quoined and segmental- arched cart entries; left entry with renewed boarded doors, right entry infilled. Central door with overlight flanked by window openings. 3 square openings to loft and ashlar-dressed, circular pitching holes over archways. To left end: 2 doorways beneath single window, wing obscured. To right end: altered ground-floor openings,intact opening above; wing to right, set back, has blocked door and window beneath 2 sashed windows. Paired gutter brackets; hipped roofs. Downhill side facing farmyard: arched-headed doorways opposite cart entries, external stone steps to each door now removed. Windows mostly slatted. Wing to left: 2 doors with overlights; 2 blocked 1st-floor windows; 2 sashes to 2nd floor. Wing to right: large inserted opening spanned by steel girder, 2 windows to each floor.

Interior: vaulted undercroft forms piggery. Upper flooring of barn now largely removed. A prominent building in the large-scale planned farm at Home Farm.
