House. c1850. Garden wall bond brick (3 and one) with painted ashlar dressings. Welsh slate roof with brick chimney. 3 storeys, 3 windows and 3 on right return to Park Place West. Central double panelled door of Sunderland type which folds back to form reveals to inner door and overlight, in surround of pilasters and entablature with dentilled cornice. Wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills to flanking casments, and to first floor central sash with horizontal glazing bars and flanking blind windows. Similar sill and plain stone round head to third floor sash below gable peak with plain bargeboard. Roof has ridge chimney at rear of ridge. Full height corniced angle pilasters on both fronts, the elevation to Park Place West having 3 ground-floor canted bays with dentilled cornices, corniced first-floor sashes with projecting sills and similar sills to smaller top-floor sashes, with eaves gutter cornice linking pilasters. Completes S end of Park Place West (qv). (Milburn GE and Miller ST: Sunderland River, Town and People: Sunderland: 1988-: 60; Corfe T: The Buildings of Sunderland 1814-1914: Newcastle: 1983-: 14).
