2/45 Engine House between shafts 22/5/86 1 and 2 GV II*
Engine House, c.1900. Yellow Ashington brick with gauged arches to doors and windows; metal-sheet roof. Rectangular single-storey building. South elevation 1 storey, 4 bays. Plinth; bays defined by pilasters rising to stepped-and- cogged eaves cornices. Inserted doorway and round-arched windows, one blocked and the others with radial heads and metal-framed casements. Left return shows casement window under timber lintel; round-arched windows with metal-framed casements to rear.
Interior: Original Jack Engine, which provided a power source auxiliary to the main winders, survives.
