ST 7767 BATHEASTON C.P. HIGH STREET (South-east side) 7/59 1.2.56 No. 290 (Batheastor House) G.V. II*
Detached house. Dated 1712 HW, under central window at rear; said to be late C17th datestone inside. Ashlar; Cotswold stone slate roof with coped raised verges; coved moulded cornice; raised quoins. 2 storeys, basement and attics in dormers (3 square dormers on entrance elevation, 5 pedimented dormers on garden elevation). 5 windows; glazing bar sashes in bolection moulded architraves with blank panels below; central window has engaged balusters below. Moulded string course. Modern 6-pane door to left in Tuscan doorcase with segmented pediment. Interior: Fine panelling and moulded plasterwork. Built for Henry Walters (1667-1753) who succeeded to the property of (Bath) Easton and (St.) Catherine through his grandfather, Henry Blanchard. Both were wealthy clothiers.
