House and cottage of 2 builds. Cottage door lintel initialled and dated C.H.
E.H., M.H. D.H. 1674; house probably 1813 (date on rainwater head), of sandstone
blocks with rusticated quoins on chamfered plinth under hipped, graduated slate
roof. Cottage set back on left; incised stucco under graduated stone-flagged
roof with stone coping and kneelers. Corniced stone chimneys. 2 storeys.
Symmetrical 3-bay house front has part-glazed door and semicircular fanlight in
architrave with Tuscan pilasters supporting broken pediment; sashes in stone
surrounds, 24-pane to ground floor and 16-pane to 1st. 2-bay cottage has single
sash with glazing bars in stone surround to each floor; panelled door in stone
surround to right has inscription to dated lintel:CAVSE:THY:BLESSING.O.LORD.TO.
REST.IN.THIS.HOVSE.EZE.cH.44.30: THE .LORD.BLESSETH.THE.HABITATION.OF.THE.IVST.
PRO:3.33.AND: THE.HOVSE.OF.THE.RIGHTEOVS.SHALL.STAND: PRO:V:12:7. Outbuildings
of coursed rubble under graduated stone-flagged roofs. Barn adjoining rear of
house has blocked door on south side with initialled and dated lintel: M.R.
1760; C20 opening in east return. Early C19 single-storey wagon shed adjoins
rear of cottage; 2 elliptical-headed wagon arches with central cylindrical
pier. Early Cl9 area walls and railings to front of house and cottage. Walls
c2 ft high of sandstone blocks with segmental copings; quadrant with central
gate to front of house. Rusticated gate piers, square in plan, with ogee tops.
Wrought-iron railings and gates have diagonally-set pointed standards.
