- II
Country house, now divided into tenements. 1814-1821 by Sir Robert Smirke (Burke and Saville). Sandstone ashlar, brick rear wing, hipped slate roofs. Double-depth plan with central entrance, facing west, rear wing extending to east. Two storeys to outer bays, central two storeys and attic. Five bays, outer bays with cornice and parapet, glazing bar sash windows with flat arches, semi-circular arched heads to ground floor outer bays, forward projecting glazed porch with three semi-circular headed openings. (Burke's and Saville's Guide to Country Houses, 1980, p 38).
