CARTMEL FELL WINSTER SD 49 SW 4/21 Farm buildings approx 20m to north of Winster House, and adjoining wall

Farm buildings. Early C19. Stone rubble with some dressed stone and large quoins. U-plan buildings with barn to east. Bank barn has east facade of 3 wide bays, the central bay breaks forward under coped gable; hipped roof with 2 ball finials. Band over lower level and under gable. Lower level has entrances flanked by windows, all segmental headed, the windows sashed with vertical glazing bars, but central bay has entrance in round-headed recess. Upper level has segmental-headed winnowing door, the outer bays with segmental-headed recesses. Right return has lean-to outshut with single gable over pointed entrance. Rear has barn entrance under pentice. South range has round-arched passageway with dove cote over to north; gable-end finial and entrance up steps. West range has open-fronted shed, recessed bays to right have large and small entrances with window. 2 cross-axial stacks. Lower level of barn has cow-house partitions, stable partitions to 1st bay.
