Walls, gatepiers and attached gates. Early C20 by Sir Reginald Blomfield for
Leonard Brassey later Baron Brassey. Limestone ashlar gatepiers and balustrade,
to east, and squared coursed limestone walls to north and south. wrought iron
gates to centre of south and east sides, gates to north now missing. Gatepiers
have obelisks with swags and ball finials. Similar piers at corners. Open
balustrade with 12 sub-divisions to east. The forecourt was originally the
gravel garden of the early C18. The walls, gatepiers and attached gates form
part of the forecourt layout to Apethorpe Palace with Apethorpe Palace (q.v.) and
wall and gatepier attached to north-east corner of East front of Apethorpe Palace
(q.v.).
