EXAMINATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE UNWORKED WOOD FROM THE WILSFORD SHAFT EXCAVATION, 1962.

The unworked wood from the Wilsford Shaft excavation in1962, previously unstudied, was examined. Represent-ative samples were identified and species lists compiledOak and alder were the dominant species, and it is suggested that they represent the debris from the working of wood. Comments are also made on the lack of dendrochronologic-al dating potential, the treatment of the material sincethe excavation and its future storage requirements.
