Warren Farm Quarry, Lockington, Leicestershire: Tree-Ring Analysis of Timbers

Author(s): Alison Arnold, Robert Howard, Cliff Litton

Sliced samples were obtained from eight different timbers (some possibly derived from the same tree) at the Warren Farm Quarry site at Lockington, on the Derbyshire / Leicestershire border. Analysis of these samples produced a single site chronology comprising six samples, with an overall length of 300 rings. These rings were dated as spanning the years 2928–2629 BC. A further sample was dated individually, its 105 rings spanning the years 2623 BC to 2519 BC. A final sample, with 83 rings, remains undated.
