Oldbury Castle, Wiltshire

Author(s): Graham Brown

In the late spring and summer of 2004 English Heritage undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical field survey at Oldbury Castle hillfort at the request of the National Trust, in advance of repair works to erosion scars on the earthworks. The survey recorded pre-existing linear ditches and discussed the development of the hillfort and the regular 'facade' formed by its east-facing defences. (This report was originally numbered 31/2004 in the Archaeological Investigation Series.)
