MOLLUSCA FROM THE EXCAVATIONS AT FERRYBRIDGE HENGE 1991

Author(s): A Milles

Samples were taken during the excavation of the hinge bank and ditch, and examined primarily for molluscan shells. The very low numbers of numbers of land snails recovered from the buried soil under the bank suggest that it was likely to have been decalcified in prehistory. The land snails from the henge ditch indicate the continual presence of grassland in the immediate area.
