The Nunnery, Staffield, Kirkoswald, Cumbria: A Note On The Historical Development Of The House

Author(s): Richard Bond

The following report was produced on behalf of Marion Barter of the North-West Region of English Heritage following a request for advice on the dating and historical development of the Nunnery, Staffield, Cumbria. The report is aimed at assessing the historical significance of the house and may be used to help assess the impact of future proposals to upgrade the building to modem residential use. The report was produced in November 2002 following the submission of a Conservation Statement prepared by Woodhall Planning and Conservation. I would like to thank Susan Amaku of Woodhall Planning and Conservation for useful discussion at the house and for supplying copies of her survey drawings to help illustrate this report.
