The aerial photographs used in this study were used to determine the development of the vessels through time from their initial abandonment to their subsequent burial and/or destruction by natural and human actions. The first version of this report was written by Amanda Dickson and described the information regarding the hulks available from aerial photographs. The body of that report has been retained as section 3 here. This revised version of the report now also incorporates further information made available by Paul Barnett, Chairman of The Friends of Purton, who has been researching the site since 1999.
