ANALYTICAL RESULTS FOR SOME ROMAN BROOCHES FROM ICKHAM, KENT.

Author(s): Justine Bayley

Thirteen Roman brooches were analysed and brasses, bronzes and leaded bronzes were among the alloys identified. The results were as expected for the types represented. One Saxon disc brooch was also analysed. It was apparently leaf gilded although gilding is normally applied as a mercury amalgam at this period.
