Lydiard Park, Swindon: Archaeological Survey

Author(s): John Lord

Between June and August 2003 English Heritage undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical field survey of Lydiard Park at the request of Swindon Borough Council, the park's owners; the request formed part of an HLF bid for funding for restoration works. The survey revealed cultivation remains of several periods, the footprint of a 17th-century formal garden, 18th-century parkland features and remains of a Second World War military hospital.
