Mid Somerset Hills, Western Mixed

Author(s): Jeremy Lake

The Mid Somerset Hills form a number of low hills and ridges rising out of the Somerset Levels and Moors. They lie between the Blackdown Hills to the south and the Mendip Hills to the north. The hills have a distinctive, predominately pastoral, character. Only 3.5% of the Character Area is urban and 4% is woodland. A very small percentage of the area (0.2%) falls within the Mendips Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
