THE IRONWORKING RESIDUES FROM EASTGATE BEVERLEY, NORTH HUMBERSIDE

Examination of the residues recovered from the site showthat smithing debris had been deposited during the mid-twelfth century A.D. It is suggested that the smithy was not located on the area excavated but was in theclose vicinity. No metallurgical or chemical analysiswas undertaken.
