ASSESSMENT OF TECHNOLOGICAL DEBRIS FROM KINGSCOTE DIG 2, GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Author(s): C Mortimer

Technological debris from this Roman small town comprised 20kg of ironworking slags, iron objects and hearth lining. Ironworking at the site may have included iron smelting, but the best evidence for this is unstratified tap slag. Non-ferrous metals may have been recycled at the site. Suggestions are made as to conservation requirements and further analysis.
