TECHNICAL ANALYSIS OF THE BELT SET FROM GRAVE 117, MUCKING ANGLO-SAXON CEMETERY, ESSEX

The manufacture of this early fifth-century artefact was investigated using visual examination, electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. It proved impossible to resolve a query about the methods used to decorate one area of the buckle set.
