TREE RING ANALYSIS OF OAK TIMBERS FROM THE BELL TOWER OF CHURCH OF MARY MAGDALEN. LAVER. ESSEX

Author(s): Jacqui Watson

Identification report on mineral preserved organic material associated with metalwork from this Anglo-Saxon cemetery. The majority of the objects were iron knives which had traces of horn handles and one example of bone or antler, and many had the remnants of leather sheaths. Other objects examined include several spearheads, shield fittings, and a set of casketfittings from which it was possible to suggest the reconstruction of the original box.
