THE INSECT REMAINS FROM 5 ROUGIER STREET, YORK.

Thirty eight 1kg 'test' samples from 35 contexts datedfrom the 2nd- mid 13th century at 5 Rougier Street,York, were examined for insects. Seven 'test' sampleswere also taken from column samples cut into the deepestRoman layers on the site. Sizeable assemblages wereonly obtained from Roman deposits and no interpretationwas possible for post-Roman and medieval samples. Theassemblages were generally strikingly similar to thosefrom the nearby Tanner Row site.
