ANIMAL BONES FROM EXCAVATIONS IN 1987 AT TRETHELLAN FARM, NEWQUAY, CORNWALL.

Author(s): Sebastian Payne

Species represented in the stratified animal bone collection from Trethellan Farm are cattle (Bos domestic), sheep or goat (Ovis/Capra domestic), pig (Sus domestic) and red deer (Cervus elaphus). Bone preservation is generally poor; most of what survives are cattle teeth and tooth fragments and burnt bone fragments. No significant differences were found between the bones from domestic contexts and those from contexts associated with ritual areas.
