Old Hall Farmhouse, Brightholmlee, Bradfield, Sheffield, South Yorkshire: Tree-Ring Dating of Timbers

Author(s): Robert Howard, Alison Arnold

Analysis undertaken on samples from the roof of the hall at Old Hall Farmhouse resulted in the construction of two site sequences, only one of which could be securely dated. Site sequence BRTHSQ01 contains four samples and spans the period AD 1365–1484. Interpretation of the sapwood suggests felling of all four timbers in AD 1484, with construction of the roof following shortly after.
