TREE-RING ANALYSIS OF TIMBERS FROM THE NORTH AISLE ROOF OF THE CHURCH OF ST PETER AND ST PAUL, BORDEN, KENT

Author(s): Robert Howard, R R Laxton, Cliff Litton

Ten samples from the roof of the north aisle of the church of St Peter and St Paul were analysed by tree-ring dating. This analysis produced a single site chronology consisting of six samples, having 116 rings spanning the period AD 1218 - AD 1333. Interpretation of the sapwood on the samples would indicate that all the dated timbers were felled in the period AD 1343 - 63.
