Tree-Ring Analysis of Timbers from the Loggia, Kepier House, Kepier Farm, The Sands, Durham, County Durham

Author(s): R R Laxton, Cliff Litton, Alison Arnold

Three samples were obtained from timbers of the ruined loggia, two from floor beams and the third being from a window lintel. No grouping occurred between the samples and attempts to date them individually were unsuccessful. Prior to tree-ring analysis the loggia had been dated on stylistic grounds to some time within the range c AD 1570 - AD 1620. As dendrochronological analysis has been unsuccessful in this case, this is still the only dating available.
