TREE-RING STUDIES IN THE SOMERSET LEVELS: THE SIGNAL POLE SITE ON WALTON HEATH, 1982.

Author(s): R A Morgan

The excavation at Signal Pole revealed a scatter of birch (Betula spp.) wood of mid third millenium B.C. date. Tree-ring studies suggested the collection at random of trunks and branches from nearby fen woodland. Most of the stems were 20-60mm in diameter and about 20-30 years old.
