PLANT REMAINS FROM 7-9 ALDWARK, YORK.

Author(s): P Tomlinson

Over eighty samples have been analysed for plant remains from this site. A majority of the samples was taken from the construction and demolition of the Roman defences, the ramparts and the fortress wall. Very few plant remains were found in these deposits. Sequences of pits of Anglo-Scandinavian, 11th and 12th- 13th century date provided useful information on faecal material and rubbish disposal through the Middle Ages. Copies of the Appendices are held at the Ancient Monuments Laboratory and the Environmental Archaeology Unit. YAT Site Code: 1985.5
