ANIMAL BONES SCANNED FROM CONTEXTS ON SITES SOU 26 AND SOU 169 (SAXON SOUTHAMPTON, SIX DIALS).

Author(s): J Bourdillon

Earlier reports have given the results of detailed studies of animal bones from a broad archaeological cross-section of features from Middle Saxon excavations on the Six Dials sites in Southampton. The present paper discusses the quantified scanning methods which have been adopted to speed the study of the large amountof bone which still remains, and gives data for assemblages from two sites (SOU 26 and SOU 169) where these methods have been used.
