Manchester Conurbation, Western Mixed

This area comprises the whole of the Manchester conurbation, including the area which fringes the Pennines to its north and east. Although these are two National Character Areas, they are summarised here as one, due the intensity of urban development in the Manchester Conurbation (NCA 54), with the exception of its northern and eastern fringes which extend into the Southern Pennines (NCA 36) and the Dark Peak (NCA 51).
