ANALYSES OF COPPER ALLOY OBJECTS FROM PAPCASTLE, CUMBRIA.

Author(s): Justine Bayley

Eleven Romano-British brooches and ten 'military' fittings were analysed qualitatively by XRF. The brooches were of the compositions expected for their types. Previous analyses of (early) military fittings had suggested they were all made of brass but this group showed considerable variation in composition; possible reasons for this are suggested.
