Hilton Hall, Near Staindrop, Bishop Auckland, County Durham: Tree-Ring Analysis of Timbers

Author(s): Alison Arnold, Robert Howard

Dendrochronological analysis of 12 samples from the roof of Hilton Hall resulted in the production of four separate site chronologies of two samples each. These four site chronologies are 116, 101, 89, and 110 rings long. Despite being compared to an extensive series of reference material, none of these four site chronologies, nor the four remaining ungrouped single samples, could be dated.
