GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY: BURGH-BY-SANDS, CUMBRIA

Author(s): Neil Linford

The survey has successfully located the Roman fort recorded by Collingwood at Burgh-by-Sands and identified a wide linear anomaly presumably associated with the defensive line of Hadrian's wall. The magnetic data also provides evidence of extra-mural activity although there is little correspondence between this data and the smaller scale resistivity survey.
