36 High Street, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, Tree-ring Dating of Oak Timbers

Author(s): Dr Martin Bridge, Cathy Tyers

Although the number of timbers available for sampling in this property was limited, five ring-width series cross-matched and dated, giving a likely felling date for this group of timbers towards the middle of the latter half of the fifteenth century. This demonstrates that the building appears to have survived the late-sixteenth century major fires, as well as the slightly later one in the early seventeenth century, in the town centre.
