Ore and slag from a Roman ironsmelting site were examined by a range of analytical techniques. These included scanning electron microscope-based energy dispersive analysis, X-ray fluorescence analysis and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. Ratios of ore: slag: iron were calculated.
