Marple Lock Number 3, Peak Forest Canal, Marple, Greater Manchester

This lock and adjoining footbridge is on the Peak Forest Canal and was built in 1803 to 1805. Benjamin Outram and Thomas Brown were the engineers. It was paid for by S. Oldknow and R. Arkwright and actually built by James and Fox.
