Martello Tower, Clacton Golf Course, Clacton On Sea, Essex

This Martello Tower was built in 1808-1812 as a defensive fort by the Ministry of Defence. It was one of several built to defend coastal towns from the Napoelonic forces. It was built at a cost of approximately £5,000 and the garrison was stationed at Weeley barracks due to the perceived unhealthiness of the coast.
