Celebrating the Success of Heritage Schools

We encourage schools participating in the programme to share learning and good practice. Here you can find out about some of the ways in which they have done so.

Schools share their experience

Schools participating in the Heritage Schools programme have shared their experience in a number of ways, including putting on exhibitions and film screenings, and even taking over a museum.

One highlight was the Heritage Schools Showcase and Awards Evening with Billy Bragg in Barking and Dagenham in November 2014.

Certificates and awards for pupils and teachers

Each pupil participating in the programme receives a Heritage Schools Achievement Certificate. All participating teachers receive Heritage School Lead Teacher Awards in recognition of their commitment to developing the programme locally and nationally.

Plaques for schools

Each of the schools participating receives a Heritage Schools plaque in recognition of their commitment to embedding local heritage into the curriculum and encouraging young people to step into the story of where they live.
