Grade I listed medieval complex built in 1421 to accommodate the priests of Manchester's collegiate church. Dissolved in 1547 and purchased in 1654 by Humphrey Chetham's executors for adaptation as a charity school and library. The building includes a Cloister Court, the Audit Room, the Reading Room, the Baronial Hall and the Association Room, formally the kitchen of the college and school


Opening Arrangements

Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm. Saturday afternoons - guided tours which are charged. Opening times advertised on the Library's website.


Off A56 Victoria Street or A6042 Corporation Street, adjacent to Victoria Rail Station. Rail: Manchester Victoria adjacent. Bus: City Centre buses.
