Christ Church, New Church Road, Wellington, Telford TF1 1JX View on map

1838 by Thomas Smith of Madeley. Gothic yellow brick church with minimal stone dressings. Slate roofs. Wide nave with lancets between buttresses with set-offs. Short chancel with octagonal corner turrets with stone pinnacles and east window with 3 lancet lights. Tall west tower with octagonal turrets, pinnacles and battlements. Moulded brick lancet bell openings with clock face below the west window. Similar to St Luke's Church, Ironbridge q.v.


Opening Arrangements

The church will be closed until 11th June 2016 for major internal repair and re-ordering works. A celebration is planned on the weekend of 11th and 12th June 2016 for the church's re-opening and to commemorate the Queen's birthday. Open for services on Sundays and Tuesdays after 11th June 2016. Take Aston Express Way to A38. Follow M6 and M54 to Telford and Wrekin. Take exit 6 from M54. Follow Whitchurch Dr/A5223 and B5061 to New Church Road in Wellington. Rail: Wellington (0.4 miles)
