Christ Church, Wanstead Place

Christ Church, Wanstead Place, Wanstead, Redbridge, London E11 2SW View on map

Consecrated in 1861 and designed by George Gilbert Scott in traditional Gothic Revival style. Tower and spire added 1869. Internal features include the William Hill organ which was built in 1878 for a church in Bradford and was restored and installed in Christ Church in 2008.


Opening Arrangements

All year: Saturday 9.30am - 12.30pm, Wednesday 9.30am - 12.30pm. Exceptional closures will occur close to public holidays. These are noted on the Parish website which includes a newsletter detailing special events, Wanstead Festival and Open House Weekend. By prior arrangement with key holder: please contact Phil Ryan by telephone or email preferably giving 4 weeks' notice.


Wanstead Place is off the centre of Wanstead High Street. Underground: Wanstead or Snaresbrook stations, central line (1/4 mile in either direction). Bus: routes 66, 101, 145, 308, W13, W14.
