Christ Church, Wharf Street

Christ Church, Wharf Street, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire HX6 2LW View on map

Built by John Oates in 1819 and opened in 1821. The chancel was rebuilt in 1873 and has a tessellated floor, elaborate Gothic style stone reredos and a wooden chancel screen of 1935. Victorian stained glass windows.


Opening Arrangements

All year: Tuesday and Saturday 9.30am to 12.00noon. Term time by prior appointment. Wednesday evening 6.15pm - 8.45pm. At other times by appointment with the church wardens in advance.


Off A58 at the junction with Tuel Lane ( A6139) and Wharf Street. Rail: Sowerby Bridge (½ mile). Bus: Nos 300, 528, 532 and 533 from Halifax.
