A complete grade II* listed historic pottery factory including original workshops and bottle kilns, formerly the Gladstone China Works manufacturer of everday ceramic items for the mass market. The museum focusses on working conditions, demonstrations of tradtional pottery manufacturing skills and hands-on experience opportunities. It includes Flushed with Pride, an extensive gallery dedicated to the history of the toilet; a re-created Victorian slum; a comprehensive tile gallery celebrating the use of decorative ceramic tiles; and the Victorian Doctor's House that provides an insight into the hazards of working in the pottery industry. The museum has a shop, cafe and facilities for meetings and conferences. It has a varied programme of events, a popular educational resource and is available for hire for location filming and photography.
