Hat Shop, Out of the Hat

Hat Shop, Out of the Hat, 100 Church Street, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire GL20 5AB View on map

An important Grade II listed building with an exceptionally fine 17th century timber framed façade. Its proportions, with deep eaves and hipped roof, are influenced by the Dutch inspired classicism of the mid-17th century. It has had various uses and had been vacant for a number of years before being purchased and repaired by Tewkesbury Borough Council. Now restored and renovated, it houses a Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor. The two upper storeys incorporate interactive displays and information to allow visitors to contemplate the life of a 17th century glove maker and the history of Tewkesbury through the ages.
