Holy Cross, Church Lane

Holy Cross, Church Lane, Woodchurch, Wirral, Merseyside CH49 7LS View on map

Grade II listed church, mainly built of local red sandstone. The nave dates from the 12th century. The south aisle, chancel and tower were added in the 14th century, the porch in the 16th century and the north aisle in the 20th century. Features include the carved pew ends in the chancel and stained glass, some attributed to Kempe.


Opening Arrangements

All year: Wednesdays 11am -12 noon, Fridays 9am - 11am and first Saturday of the month 9-30am -11am. All other times by prior arrangement.


From M53 Junction 3 towards Arrowe Park Hospital. Church Lane is on the right. Rail: Upton (2 miles). Bus: routes 12, 83, 216 and 217 (from Birkenhead bus station to Arrowe Park Hospital).
