White brick Palazzo style building with stone dressings, arched windows, channelled angle piers and projecting cornices. Ground floor consists of a symmetrical entrance hall leading to a balustrade grand staircase in Portland stone with a central flight dividing into two side flights at a half landing. The stairwell extends upwards to the first floor ceiling over eleven metres above. From the first floor gallery of the main stairwell a central door leads into the former council chamber, which extends across the whole of the front of the building with a gallery at the Western end. A secondary stair leads from the basement to the second floor which has a passage linking the council chamber public gallery with a further small balcony in the centre of the chamber. The building is currently used by a charity, community focused cultural businesses and an arts group.

Opening Arrangements

Every second Tuesday of the month 7pm - 10pm; Every third Saturday of the month 11am - 3pm; Fridays 2pm - 6pm (from March) by prior arrangement. All other times via prior arrangement.

Situated just West of the Commercial Road and Burdett road junction, on the South side, adjacent to the churchyard of St Anne's Limehouse. Rail: Liverpool Street (2 Miles), Westferry or Limehouse (DLR) (approx. 600 yards). Bus: routes 15,115,D6,D3,D7,277.
