Monastic Grange at Priory Farm, Muggleswick, Derwentside, Durham DH8 9DJ View on map

The original building was a 13th century Monastic Grange and Lodge at Muggleswick for Hugh of Darlington, Prior of Durham 1258-72. The east gable is the only remaining part of the original structure, some 5m high by 9m in length, with a short broken down section of the south and north side walls. Grade I listed and a scheduled monument.

It is open to the public all the time and has good access.


Road: Located in hamlet of Muggleswick. From A68 take the B6278 signposted Edmundbyers and follow for a couple of miles until reach turning signposted Muggleswick. Rail: Stocksfield (9 miles)
