Grade I listed large house with three storey mid 16th century tower built for Sir William Ingilby, and ranges of1783-86 for Sir John Ingilby, by William Belwood.


Opening Arrangements

Castle: by Guided Tour only. January, February and December - group booked tours only. March- weekends only. March 28th - September 27th - Daily. October and November - weekends only and daily during Autumn half term. Gardens and parkland: open throughout the year.

4 miles north of Harrogate, off A61 in Riplley village. Rail: Harrogate (4 miles). Bus: No 36A (Leeds to Ripon, every 20 minutes).

Also accessible via the Dalesway, a footpath/cycleway from Harrogate to Ripley. Cycle stands are available adjacent to the castle and castle tearooms.
